Together with my husband we did incredible adventure with Fernando! Spent two night in the heart of Tambopata NR, taking walking tours in the jungle (also during night), kayaking, swimming in the river and watching amazing show at macaw clay lick; after that we spent another amazing two days at lake Sandoval, watch caymans, giant otters and countless of different monkeys! Fernando is an amazing person, fully dedicated to his work and with incredible knowledge about Peru’s wildlife. Spent a week with Fernando on the herps tour. As an ecologist who's spent months in the remote places for work, this felt like a proper adventure which involved some bush whacking, piranha fishing, river navigating, wild camping and, obviously, snakes. Unfortunately luck wasn't on our side with some target species, but it was great to be deep in the forest and wetlands looking for all sorts of creatures. To get some more snake handling experience was great.
I can't compare with other tours but I was the only client so it was a very personalable experience and, from I saw of other tours, they seemed to be very crowded. Fernando works with researchers which allows him to go deeper into the forest, handle snakes and help towards their conservation. The accomdation and hospitality was also exceeded expectations. Honnêtement le meilleur guide de tout Puerto Maldonado. Ne cherchez plus il est là!! Fernando est un guide exceptionnel, à l’écoute de ce que vous voulez faire et cherche des solutions et s’adapte à tout. C’est quelqu’un de formidable qui aime la nature. Les autres tours pour Tambopata sont très touristiques mais avec Fernando c’est très différent vous êtes comme avce un membre de la famille. Il vous apprend à connaître chaque recoin de la forêt, à reconnaître les bruits de chaque animaux. Il connaît mieux la forêt que personne. Nous avons passés 7 jours avec lui c’était fabuleux. Parfait en tout point.
Nous avons passé une semaine complète avec Fernando, qui nous a tout appris concernant la Selva péruvienne, qu’il connaît comme sa poche.
Si vous recherchez une véritable expérience authentique dans la jungle, c’est l’un des seule a proposé une telle proximité avec la nature a Puerto Maldonado.
De plus, il a réussi a s’adapter a nos besoins car nous étions un groupe très restreint ce qui permet de mieux apprécier l’expérience (seulement nous et lui).
Je vous recommande fortement si vous cherchez un séjour dans la jungle accessible en bus ou avion de Cusco.

Hola! Solo female traveler- This is everything I could have wanted in a trip.

I wanted a wild experience, and I got exactly that. I don’t know how something so wild could be so well organized, comfortable, and accommodating. The lodges were beautiful, the food was DELICIOUS, the wildlife was abundant. Fernando’s knowledge of local flora and fauna was mind blowing.

I have been on different jungle tours with Fernando because we did not want any other guide after exploring the jungle with him! He is born and raised in the jungle so he knows it by heart. Also has phenomenal eyes for hidden creatures and an indepth knowledge of the jungle’s flora and fauna through his studies. Besides that he is a great character, we had so much fun with him! I really had the best time in Peruvian Amazon with our guide Fernando!! He is definitely the best guide who will explain you everything about the wildlife of Tambopata and might be the only guide who is able to save you froma jaguar 😉. Also he is a reptile, birds, and medical plant expert :) Be prepared to see a lot of animals with Fernando and learn everything about his culture.
